What is micro-needling?

(Percutaneous Induction Needling, also referred to as PCIT, Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy…a.k.a micro-needling, or automated micro-needling) P. I. N. is a method of introducing a controlled wound into the skin triggering a release of natural growth factors, new collagen and elastin. This process causes much less damage to the epidermis than dermal rolling or lasers and other ablative treatments, which helps to protect the new skin cell growth providing for quicker healing and a much higher success rate for overall and longer lasting results. Collagen P.I.N. addresses most major skin concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, aging, sun damaged skin, peri-oral rhytids (laugh lines), melasma, hyperpigmentation issues, acne scarring and rough texture just to mention a few. With only 3 to 6 treatments you can achieve long-term sustainable results when supported by good skin care.

Who can be treated with Collagen P.I.N, and on what areas of the body?

Collagen PIN can be used on all skin types to address a variety of concerns, most all areas of the body can be treated unless your medical provider determines otherwise.

  • Face
  • Arms
  • Neck
  • Legs-décolletage
  • Abdomen (stretch marks)
  • Hands
  • Back

How many Collagen PIN treatments will I need?

Typically a series of 3-6 Collagen PIN treatments is recommended, depending on your area of correction or concern. Your skin care professional will ultimately determine a treatment schedule based on your individual goals and desires. Treatments are usually spaced at 4 week intervals. Patients with deep wrinkles, advanced sun damage, stretch marks, or any type of scars, usually require 6 or more treatments to achieve the desired results.

What is the method of application for Collagen PIN?

A sterile disposable needle cartridge, holding either 12 or 36 micro-needles is glided across the skin with the Collagen PIN device that mechanically induces a micro injury to the desired depth chosen for your your skin by your medical provider. The Collagen PIN creates micro channels which allow topicals and serums to reach the true targeted areas, producing a much more efficacious result.

Will the Collagen PIN hurt?

Prior to your treatment with the Collagen PIN, the medical provider will apply a topical numbing agent. Most people say they feel almost nothing after having been pretreated with a topical numbing agent.

How long will it take for me to see results from my Collagen PIN treatment?

Most all patients see results after the first Collagen PIN treatment. Individual results vary depending on individual skin health. It is most common to begin to see true changes or positive results as soon as 1-2 weeks after the first treatment. Many patients comment on positive changes in even less time. Often change is noted within just a few days!

How long will my Collagen PIN results last?

Collagen PIN produces results through the stimulation of growth factors and collagen, thereby promoting new skin cells to surface. As our skin ages, our collagen production naturally slows down. Your overall result will last longer when using an at home skin care regimen that includes a daily Retinoids product. Your medical provider is best suited to make this recommendation. New collagen and elastin formation in the skin are documented as visually and measurably improved as much as one year after just one treatment. However, a series of treatments is typically recommended for best results.

What will I look like after my Collagen PIN treatment?

Collagen PIN is considered a no downtime treatment. Immediately after your treatment your skin will look slightly pink to moderately red. Your medical provider will recommend skin care products for your post care based on your individual skin, which will greatly minimize these symptoms and enhance your overall results.

What makes Collagen PIN different?

All PINS are NOT created equal! There are many micro-needling devices on the market today but they are not the same! Most pens have only 12 needles in the tip and ours has either 12 or 36! Three times the needles than any other device on the market! The scientifically designed tips minimize the pain, increase efficacy and results and provide for a more even and consistent treatment. We use the 12 pin tip for deeper body areas such as stretch mark and scar rejuvenation.

Needle depth – The Collagen PIN has the ability to penetrate to a full 3mm in depth to get deep into the tissue. Many pens on the market only penetrate 1.5 or 2 mm into the skin! This allows us to get deeper into the dermis to stimulate more collagen and break up scar tissue in acne scarred skin. Strength and speed – Many pens on the market claim to have speed of 1,400 RPMs – 3,000 RPMs. The Collagen PIN has an amazing 24,000 RPMs! This allows for greater penetration, much faster penetration which causes more micro-trauma which in turn maximizes healing while minimizing discomfort.

Hyauralonic Acid– While micro-needling we use a hyaularonic acid which has extraordinary beneficial ingredients for all skin types. It has powerful anti-aging properties and is also one of the premier hydrating ingredients for skin. Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan, a fancy name for vital natural substance that’s a youth-supporting part of skin. As the chief glycosaminoglycan in skin, hyarulaonic acid works to keep the skin stable, safeguarded, and constantly renewed. It also has the stunning capacity to attract and hold vast amounts of moisture. It can hold close to 1,000 times its weight in water, to be exact! As skin ages, its loses its natural ability to retain moisture, which is why Hyauralonic acid is essential to combat aging and keep skin firm. Using this during micro-needling when the serum has the ability to get deep into layers of the dermis that would otherwise not be able to penetrate gives maximal effectiveness.

DermaPen 12 needle tip 0.15-2.5mm depth 8,000 rpm
Rejuvapen 12 needle tip 0.2-2.44mm depth 11,000 rpm
SkinPen 12 needle tip 0.25-2.5mm depth 8,900 rpm
COLLAGEN PIN 12 OR 36 needle tip 0.5-3mm depth 24,000 rpm!

Micro-needling with PRP! Boost your body's ability to heal itself!

What Is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?
PRP is plasma with a higher concentration of platelets than what is typically found in blood. Although blood is mainly a liquid (plasma), it also contains small solid components: red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs) and platelets. Platelets are best known for their importance in clotting blood. In addition, platelets contain proteins called growth factors, which are important in the healing of injuries.

The concentration of platelets—and, thereby, the concentration of growth factors—is significantly increased in PRP as compared to regular plasma. PRP may help optimize the conditions for healing.

During the past several years, much has been written about PRP and its potential effectiveness in the treatment of injuries, such as ligament sprains or chronic tendon injuries. As the name suggests, PRP is simply the concentrated platelets and growth factors from a patient’s own blood.

How Is PRP Obtained?
To obtain PRP, blood is first drawn from a patient. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge where the platelets are separated from other blood components in order to increase their concentration. The concentrated platelets are then re-suspended in a fraction of the plasma after the centrifugation process.

The injection of PRP is a technique using the body’s own blood to heal itself. Doctors incorporate its use for the growth of thinning hair, transplanted hair and wound healing. If the hair follicles or hair roots are healthy, the growth of the hair is healthy. Hair follicles survive on the nutrition they get from blood supply. If we introduce platelets by administering PRP in the area of damaged hair follicles, it amplifies the body’s naturally occurring wound healing mechanism. Some doctors around the world believe PRP can be used to stimulate the growth of hair follicles preventing hair loss all together.

Instead of using Hyauralonic Acid as a serum for micro-needling, we use the platelet poor plasma that is obtained after separating the whole blood from the platelet rich plasma which also . After micro-needling is complete, we inject the PRP into several sites in the face with a very small needle (insulin needle) to boost the healing process and introduce the amazing growth factors into the most damaged areas or areas of concern. Some mild bruising may occur at the injection site and to minimize, we use the Aerolase Light Pod Neo laser to assist in this process at no extra charge. Ice is also recommended to decrease mild swelling and increase comfort. Symptoms will vary and most will be gone after 3-5 days.
